July 31, 2011:  I'm still working on the updated Discography.  During the reformatting process, I noticed that several releases were not listed, including Lesley's contributions to the Peter Allen album "Taught By Experts" and the Shimmperplanet CD.  I am currently looking through my collection to see what else is missing.  If you have anything to contribute to the Discography, please let me know.
I have also been asked by fans to post some of Lesley's older Reviews and Press on this site.  I will be working on that in the next few weeks.
Any other suggestions are most welcomed!

Lesley Gore - Hits & Rarities 1964 - 1969

Regular Price: $ 22.72

Special Price: $ 18.17

This is the first of a new series from “Teensville” called “Artist Spotlight” where we feature hits and rarities by artist(s) of the 60s. This package focuses mainly on Lesley Gore with tracks recorded between 1964 and 1969 but with 2 fantastic bonus tracks recorded in the 70s and 80s that have NEVER been released. The major attraction of this package is the many first time to cd master mixes and also some very rare stereo mixes from the Mercury vaults. Amazingly, the collector can hear the chatter at the end of “Look of Love;” this is also the original single mix not issued on cd before. We also feature 2 of Lesley’s biggest hits “You Don’t Own Me” and “Judy’s Turn To Cry” in Italian (with more studio chatter.) This is a refreshing collection of Lesley Gore goodies with mostly rare stereo mixes never before issued on cd, which makes it a must for fans of 60’s pop, girl groups and of course, Lesley Gore. 15 of the tracks are in glorious STEREO with a fantastic 12 Page Booklet with notations of each of the tracks and recording details. A Must for Early 60's pop fans and Girl Group Fans of the 60s

Lesley Gore to Party with Broadway Cast of Million Dollar Quartet Sept. 24
By Adam Hetrick
16 Sep 2010

Lesley Gore

Singer-songwriter Lesley Gore, best known for her 1963 hit "It's My Party," will offer a special musical encore with the cast of Broadway's Million Dollar Quartet Sept. 24 at the Nederlander Theatre.

Gore is the latest music icon to join the Broadway cast for a post-show performance. In recent weeks Million Dollar Quartet has welcomed Jerry Lee Lewis and Melissa Etheridge for jam sessions with the Broadway cast.

In addition to "It's My Party," Gore's hits include "Judy's Turn To Cry," "She's A Fool," "That's the Way Boys Are," "Maybe I Know" and "You Don't Own Me." She is currently at work on a musical based on her life and career.

Million Dollar Quartet leads Eddie Clendening, Lance Guest, Tony Award winner Levi Kreis and Rob Lyons, who all appeared in the Chicago cast, re-create their work for Broadway audiences. Kreis portrays Lewis, Clendening plays Elvis Presley, Guest is Johnny Cash, and Lyons is Carl Perkins

Amy Winehouse Sings Again On Quincy Jones Album

Posted on Thursday September 9, 2010 at 07:01 AM |
.Amy Winehouse is making music again.

Quincy Jones says the five-time Grammy winner's first new track in years will appear on his forthcoming album, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra.

Winehouse has been known more for her personal problems than her music in recent years, and hasn't issued any new tunes since her critically acclaimed 2006 breakthrough CD, Back to Black.

The 26-year-old British songstress reunited with producer Mark Ronson to record the 1963 classic "It's My Party" for the album celebrating Jones' past hits. The 77-year-old music mogul produced the original Lesley Gore track.

"Q: Soul Bossa Nostra" also features Usher, Ludacris, Akon, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, T-Pain and LL Cool J, among others. The album is set for release in November.

Sept. 3, 2010:  I was listening to the two new additions to itunes today and accidentally came across something I haven't heard before.  I remember a few years back reporting in the newsletters that Lesley was featured on a Shimmerplanet CD.  I found the song today on itunes.  It is not listed under "Lesley Gore."  You must search "Shimmerplanet."  The CD  is "For the One Who Kills Tomorrow" which was released May 16, 2006.  The song which features Lesley is Track 11 "Siren."  You can preview it on itunes and/or download it for 99 cents.

Sept. 3, 2010:  Lesley singing "Look of Love" live from the Jan. 31, 1965 appearance on Ed Sullivan Show and "She's a Fool" live from the October 13, 1963 show are now available for download at www. itunes.com for 99 cents each.

Aug. 31, 2010:  Help!  I need sheet music (cover sheets).  My copies are packed away and will take forever to find. (Can you imagine what my 47 year Lesley Gore collection looks like?)   E-mail me any sheet music you have.  Thank you!

Would you like to see a gallery of trade ads for Lesley's single and album releases?  Let me know..

July 16, 2010:  Thank you for all your comments and suggestions.  I know that the "Single, EP, etc." pictures are out of order.  I am concentrating on getting as many uploaded as I can.  Then I will work on the order and sizing of the photos.  Keep your e-mails coming.  They are appreciated and welcomed!

July 2, 2010:  Thank you to everyone who has sent me an e-mail about this website.  I appreciate all of your comments and suggestions.  Please feel free to contact me at jack@lesleygorefanclub.com.  I enjoy hearing from you.  I have received a number of requests for the album covers to be included in the "Picture Sleeves" Gallery.  I will begin working on them now and hopefully have them on the Gallery shortly.  Keep the comments coming!!!

June 28, 2010:  On June 21st, Eminem released a new CD "Recovery" on the Aftermath label.  On the last track (#17) "Untitled,"  he "samples" Lesley's "You Don't Own Me."  I had no idea what that meant, so I consulted our resident expert (thank you, Jim Allio!), who explained that "sampling" is the process of pulling one particular element from a record- in this case Lesley's vocals on two lines of the song- tweaking them a bit, and inserting them into a different song.  The song opens with a synthed up version of the "You Don't Own Me" beat, then Lesley's voice, sped up a bit, singing "You don't own me, don't try to change me in any way," before Eminem starts rapping.  Lesley reappears in the song several times.

June 28, 2010:  Check out www.cruisediva.com.  Linda Coffman is an author and travel expert who sailed on the Malt Shop Memories cruise.  She writes a very interesting blog on her web site.  From the home page, click on "Malt Shop Memories Cruise."  There is even a photo of Lesley taken during the Question and Answer Session aboard the ship.

June 22, 2010:  I located Lesley's Facebook page and printed a copy.  At the bottom of the page is the direct link to her Facebook page.  It really is:  www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001075680769&ref=search .  Try it, it does work!

June 22, 2010Check out the new June, 2010 issue of Daeida Magazine (www.daeida.com).  The cover story is about Crystal Gayle.  She mentions in the article that Lesley was one of her earlier influences.

Mar. 2, 2011:  Lesley appeared on a California TV program "Straight Talk."  She was interviewed at the Palm Springs Follies.  Check out the interview at www.straighttalktv.com or click above link.
