June 28, 2010: On June 21st, Eminem released a new CD "Recovery" on the Aftermath label. On the last track (#17) "Untitled," he "samples" Lesley's "You Don't Own Me." I had no idea what that meant, so I consulted our resident expert (thank you, Jim Allio!), who explained that "sampling" is the process of pulling one particular element from a record- in this case Lesley's vocals on two lines of the song- tweaking them a bit, and inserting them into a different song. The song opens with a synthed up version of the "You Don't Own Me" beat, then Lesley's voice, sped up a bit, singing "You don't own me, don't try to change me in any way," before Eminem starts rapping. Lesley reappears in the song several times.
June 28, 2010: Check out www.cruisediva.com. Linda Coffman is an author and travel expert who sailed on the Malt Shop Memories cruise. She writes a very interesting blog on her web site. From the home page, click on "Malt Shop Memories Cruise." There is even a photo of Lesley taken during the Question and Answer Session aboard the ship.

June 22, 2010: Check out the new June, 2010 issue of Daeida Magazine (www.daeida.com). The cover story is about Crystal Gayle. She mentions in the article that Lesley was one of her earlier influences.
June 21, 2010: Lesley is now on Facebook and Twitter! When clicking on the Facebook link, I am directed to someone else named "Lesley Gore." However, when I go to "Search Friends" and type in "Lesley Gore," about ten different sites come up. Lesley's, of course, is the one with the black and white photo of herself! I am still trying to figure out how to directly link to Lesley's page. I'll update this soon....
June 9, 2010: Finally got the Publicity Photos Gallery on line today. This album is also a work in progress. I will be adding and/or changing the photos occasionally. As always, comments and suggestions are welcomed.
